Jacques POTDEVIN is a Chartered Accountant and Auditor, and has been Chairman and Chief Executive officer of JPA since 1975.
Throughout his career, and along with the development of the Group, he has been deeply involved in the organization of the profession in France. In particular, by taking on the role of Vice-president of the professional union of Certified Accountants and Auditors, Chairman of the Compagnie Régionale des Commissaires aux Comptes de Paris, member of the Conseil National de la Comptabilité and then Chairman of the Compagnie Nationale des Commissaires aux Comptes.
Furthermore, beyond the institutional environment, he regularly helps financial professionals from his position as Chairman of the Compagnie des Conseils Experts Financiers (CCEF) from 1998 to 2001, as well as aiding companies, by being a member of the Board of the MEDEF 93 Ouest since 1997.
However, the most characteristic feature of his professional career was his very early interest in the worldwide environment, which is an essential aspect to the understanding of the current situation and economic developments. He started by being Chairman of the French professional institution dedicated to bilateral cooperation (Direction du Développement et des Partenariats Internationaux) within the Order of Chartered Accountants from 1997 to 2005; and this role led him to undertake a variety of international activities such as :
- the implementation of training sessions on quality control, professional auditing standards and international accounting standards,
- assistance with the implementation of a National Council for Accounting in Laos and Cambodia,
- the creation and development of the profession of certified accountants and auditors in Cambodia, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary,
- the training of Chinese professionals up to international accounting standards.
His valuable experience and his increased awareness of the current international issues led him to become the Vice-president, the Deputy Chairman and then the Chairman of the European Federation of Accountants (FEE), from 2000 to 2008. This allowed him to lead lobbying efforts on the definition and the evolution of different European directives related to statutory audit and services, especially in the accountancy area.
He has been a member of the High-Level Group of Independent Experts for the monitoring of the administrative burden, also called « Stoiber Group », within the European Commission, since 2007, and he joined the Board of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) in 2009.
This strong awareness of a globalized economy resulted, naturally, in 1987, with the establishment of an international network of independent accounting and audit firms. The JPA International Network is now represented in more than 50 countries and includes approximatively 4,500 employees and 350 qualified accountants around the world.
Within the JPA Group Jacques Potdevin works, in particular, on statutory audits and merger and acquisition audits for many companies, whether listed or not, and also on independent engagements.
